Black Forest

We ate lunch at this German restaurant in Nederland, CO. The atmosphere was great, the food, so-so. They didn't have spatzel.

Gross Dam Reservoir

We walked along this reservoir and had a good laugh about the strange use regulations. One rule was, "No bodily contact with water." Why? Don't they treat it before Denver drinks it? After all, the animals ARE touching it - and worse!

Boulder Canyon Falls

This gorgeous water fall is a short walk from the road.

Zilla's Tormentor

The other day I came home to find one of my glass seashell jars  shattered on the kitchen floor. Now I know how it happened.

Found: Dragon in My Yard

If you can ID this dragonfly (found in Dallas, TX),
please comment.

Last night Jeff called me out to see this dragonfly. He found it flailing around, unable to fly, but with no apparent injuries. It was almost four inches long and beautiful shades of yellow-green, turquoise and blue-violet. Since it couldn't fly, I decided to bring it in for the night. I left it in a box with holes in my studio. This morning I took it outside to test its wings. It flopped onto its back and buzzed around on its head again. I really didn't think he would make it so I set him in the sun to take some photos. I took this photo, and before I could take another, he zoomed off. I looked up and saw him over the house. He hovered for a moment and then shot out into the wild blue yonder.

Last Hike to Fairy Fort

The Garden of Good and Evil

This looks like Queen Anne's Lace, but I
know it's not. If you know what it is please
comment. It was growing in a canyon near
a creek in Park City, UT.
This evil plant is stinging nettle. If you brush against it,
tiny poisonous hairs pierce your skin and the pain will make
you want to run around screaming like a madman.
Supposedly, if you know how to handel it, it can be eaten
and used as a hair rinse.
I don't know what this one is either.
