We Survived the Blizzard
We left TX around 7:30 Saturday and didn't arrive in Rollinsville till around noon today (Sunday). We were coming through Kansas this time but I-70 was closed at the Colorado border due to the huge blizzard. We decided to head south to Pueblo because we thought the weather looked better. It wasn't. We ended up in a tiny town called Eads where we were informed that the roads had been closed in all directions. The one hotel was sold out due to the crew of oilfield roughnecks. The pastor opened the church, made chili and passed out sleeping bags and we spent the night sleeping on pews in the cry room. There were about 10 other people stranded there too. We actually slept pretty well.
Arrived in Nederland for the last day of the Frozen Dead Guy fest. We got to see the frozen t-shirt contest. We ran into "dachshund man," one of our neighbors in Dallas. He bought a house in Gilpin. Small world. House is good, nothing broken. Lots of snow, about a foot.
