Fifteen minutes up the valley from our Animal House is the Moffat Tunnel that allows trains to pass under the Continental Divide. It also marks the beginning of the gorgeous James Peak Wilderness Area. For our 5th anniversary we went up the trail in search of tasty boletus mushrooms. It was too early for them but we did revisit a waterfall we'd stumbled across last year. We decided to follow it up the mountain. Eventually the stream intersected with a trail that led to Forest Lakes so we headed right on up. We were rewarded with another one of the Divide's sapphire alpine lakes. I can't wait to do some backpacking and fishing up there later.
